Our Goal
To improve access to and quality of water supply in selected cities and to strengthen the capacity of AUWSSC to deliver sustainable services in order to contribute to national efforts to manage COVID-19 and other disasters.
How We Deliver
The project will improve access to and quality of water supply in Kabul, Kandahar, and Herat and strengthen the capacity of Afghanistan Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Corporation (AUWSSC) to deliver sustainable services and contribute to national efforts to manage COVID-19 and other disasters.
Expected results
- Support a resilient recovery by improving access and quality of water supply in selected cities: 880,000 people provided with access to improved water sources, of which 440,000 are women; 95% of water distributed complies with WHO standards for biological and physical quality
- Strengthening the performance of AUWSSC: 80% of Strategic Business Units in Kandahar, Herat and Kabul improved collection efficiency (baseline 35%); 80% increase in metering coverage (baseline 10%); Strategic Business Continuity Plan for three major cities adopted by AUWSSC
